scary children stories

Disguised Child....

A small child was abducted at Disneyworld. The distraught parents are taken to a surveillance room filled with monitors to look for the child. Almost at the point of giving up, the mother reconizes the childs shoes when a strange woman attempts to leave the park. The reason the shoes were all that were recognized is the childs hair had been cut and dyed, and she'd been dressed as a little boy.

Often takes place at a supermarket or some other theme park.

fallen baby....

In the town of Wentzeville, MO. it is said that in the early 1800's a young mother rode her horse into town with her infant son in a sling on her back. She stayed to late in town and it was past dark when she set out to return home.

As she made her way home, the sky clouded over and she could hear distant thunder as a storm approached. The road was very dark without the moonlight and she began to notice rustling noises coming from the darkness all around her. The girl began to look over her shoulder in panic as she became more and more aware of how alone she was. As the chills crawled up her spine, she hoped that the child wouldn't sense her fear.

Suddenly she heard a scream only a few feet from her horse. She became so frightened that she spurred her horse into a fast run. As the horse fled, all the jarring caused the baby to be thrown from her back. The young woman was so horrified she couldn't think, she urged the horse faster and faster away from the sound, further and further away from the child.

Later the mother returned, sick with guilt, to search for the fallen baby. Though the storm had passed, the moonlight revealed no clues to the young woman. Her child had disappeared in the night.

To this day they say if you stop on this lonely stretch of road just before a storm you can hear a loud scream, then the sound of horses hooves, and then a baby crying.

Baby in the Chair....

A young couple were waiting impatiently to leave on their first vacation since the baby was born but the woman's aunt, who would be babysitting was thirty minutes late. The young woman called her elderly aunt to find out what was going on, and the old woman apologized for her forgetfulness, and said she'd speed right over.

Since the aunt was only a couple miles away, the couple decided they'd go ahead and go rather than wait for her and risk missing their flight.

Two weeks later when the couple returned they were horrified to find the baby still in it's high-chair where they'd left it, except now it was dead and bloated, and covered with flies. The aunt really had sped, and unfortunatly crashed and died before she made it over.

Thump, Thump, Drag....

Ashley, a 16 year old girl, was babysitting 2 little boys. Their parents weren't supposed to come home until very late, so she put them to bed and sat downstairs in the living room to watch some TV. She was flipping channels and came to the evening news. The Anchor-woman reported a warning for her area. She said that a mental patient had escaped from a nearby facility and was on the run from the local athorities. Ashley flipped the channel again to find an old movie she hadn't seen in a while, but always enjoyed. By the end of the film, she had forgotten about the news report.

Upstairs one of the boys woke up. He thought he heard a noise coming from the hallway. Thump, thump, draaaag....

The child thought that Ashley must be watching TV, the sound must have been from the program she was watching.

The boy heard the sound again and woke his brother. Together, they listened at the door to the bedroom and the sound kept coming thump, thump, draaaag...thump, thump, drag....

The sound stopped but the boys were still nervous about leaving the saftey of their bedroom. They got back into bed and stayed under the covers until their parents got home.

When their parents came in the house they were struck by a greusome sight. Ashley was laying halfway up the stairs with a trail of blood behind her. Her arms were cut off at the elbows and she'd been climbing the stairs on the bloody stumps of her arms, pulling her badly injured body along to protect the children before she died of blood loss.

Ashley's attacker was never found!

Turkey Baby....

A newlywed couple had their first baby. Because Annie (the mom), was afraid to leave the baby alone with anyone, the once social couple, found themselves spending their nights at home. Finally, when the baby was about 5 months old, Annie's husband Jack decided to hire a babysitter to watch the child while the couple went to a friend's birthday party.

Once the couple had left, the babysitter invited her boyfriend over to Annie and Jack's house to party. He brought her some booze and together they drank liquor and tried LSD, something they had never done before. When Annie called home to check on the baby, the babysitter told her about the pretty colors and the turkey that she was cooking in the oven.

Annie got very upset and went to find her husband so they could rush home and see what was going on. When they got to their house, Jack ran upstairs to get the baby, and Annie stayed with the babysitter to try and make sense of what she had said earlier on the phone. Jack came running down the stairs in a panic asking over an over again "Where's the baby? Where's the baby?" Suddenly, both Jack and Annie smelled something burning. They ran to the kitchen, looked in the oven and found their beautifully burnt baby.

Another Hookman....

On a summer night in Pennsylvania, a boy and a girl drive out to a spot in the woods. Parked in the darkness, they heard on the radio that a man escaped from Allentown State Hospital, several miles from the local high school, and was terrorizing innocent people on a murder-spree. He was described to have lost his hand and years ago it had been replaced by a large metal hook. He had hacked off his own hand in a fit of madness , trying to escape a pair of handcuffs years earlier.

The boy thought nothing of it, switched off the radio and turned his attention to his girlfriend.

Suddenly, small noises errupted from nearby. The girl pulled away, frightened. "I'm scared. You know, about what they said on the radio? Maybe we should go home."

"No way, do you want your parents to find out we didn't go to the movies? Just relax." As they picked up where they left, they didn't hear anything for a while until there was a loud screech on the door, obviously coming from the girl's side of the car.

"That's it, take me home! It's not safe out here!"

Her boyfriend, senselessly frustrated, relunctantly agreed. He complained all the way home, insulting her for "being such a baby". Barely waiting for the car to stop, the girl angrily opened the door and got out of the car as they pulled up to her driveway. Slamming the car door, ready to go inside, she froze, staring at the car. She started to scream.

The boy, growing a bit alarmed, got out of the car and walked around to her side, where he too, stopped where he stood and could only stare at the door handle in frightened amazement. Found hanging from the car door, was a bloody hook, just dangling in place.

Check the Back Seat!....

A friend stopped at a pay-at-the-pump gas station to get gas. Once she filled her gas tank and after paying at the pump and starting to leave, the voice of the attendant inside came over the speaker. He told her that something happened with her card and that she needed to come inside to pay. The lady was confused because the transaction showed complete and approved. She relayed that to him and was getting ready to leave but the attendant, once again, urged her to come in to pay or there'd be trouble.

She proceeded to go inside and started arguing with the attendant about his threat. He told her to calm down and listen carefully: He said that while she was pumping gas, a guy slipped into the back seat of her car on the other side and the attendant had already called the police. She became frightened and looked out in time to see her car door open and the guy slip out.

Another Version
A woman was driving on her way home when she noticed a big 18 wheeler truck driving behind her. The truck driver flashed his lights at her. She ignored him, but he continued to flash his lights, distracting her from the road. She decided to drive faster to try to move away from the annoying truck. The driver caught up with her car and flashed his headlights at her again.

She called the police on her cell phone and told them what was happening to her. They instructed her to meet them at her house. When she got there she quickly ran out of the car and up to the police officers waiting for her.

Amazingly, the truck stopped in front of her house as well, despite the police cars obviously waiting for him. The officers began to arrest the driver, but he begged them to let him explain. He said that when they were stopped at a rest stop at the same time he saw a man get into the back seat of her car with a huge knife. With no other way to warn her about the man, the driver followed the woman and flashed his lights each time he noticed the man rising up out of the back seat to attack her. The killer ducked back down to avoid being seen.

The police searched the car and arrested the would-be killer instantly.

Car Jacker Warnings....

You immediately get out of your still running automobile to investigate the source of the note when a carjacker appears on the other side, jumps into your car and drives off. The criminal has your car and everything in it including your purse which contains your personal information.

Homeless Children Assist....

A woman had just finished grocery-shopping when a group of homeless children offered to help her to her car. After loading her groceries one of the children asked the woman for a tip, gratefully she obliged.

Never Ending Road....

In Corona, California there once was a road known by most locals as the Never Ending Road .Specifically, the roads true name was Lester Road. Now, over twenty years later, the landscape of Corona has changed, and the Never Ending Road is no more. However, years ago, Lester Road was an unlit road that people claimed became a never ending road when driven at night. The people who made such a drive were never seen from again.

The legend became so well-known that people refused to even drive Lester Road during the day. One night, like many teens my age, I drove up Lester Road, but only a short distance, and in my headlights it did look like it went on forever. Frightened, I quickly turned around, because if I continued up the road, I may never return again.

Perpetuation of the legend convinced local law enforcement to investigate. Lester Road took a sharp left turn at its end, and there were no guard rails. Beyond the curve lay a canyon, and on the other side of the canyon was another road that lined up so well with Lester Road that when viewed from the correct angle, especially at night, the canyon vanished from sight, and the road seemed to continue on up and over the hill on the other side of the canyon. Upon investigation of the canyon, dozens of cars were found, fallen to their doom, with the decomposing bodies of the victims still strapped to their seats.

As she was about to drive off a man ran up to her and told her to go directly to the police station. One of the children had locked himself in the trunk of her car planning to ambush her later with a knife.

Mall Warning....

To the men : warn your loved ones!
To the women : remember this!

About a month ago there was a woman standing by the Mega Mall entrance passing out flyers to all the women going in. The woman had written the flyer herself to tell about an experience she had, so that she might warn other women.

The previous day, this woman had finished shopping, went out to her car and discovered that she had a flat. She got the jack out of the trunk and began to change the flat. A nice man dressed in business suit and carrying a briefcase walked up to her and said, "I notice you are changing a flat tire. Would you like me to take care of it for you?" The woman was grateful for his offer and accepted his help. They chatted amiably while the man changed the flat, and then put the flat tire and the jack in the trunk, shut it and dusted his hands off.

The woman thanked him profusely, and as she was about to get in her car, when the man told her that he left his car around on the other side of the mall, and asked if she would mind giving him a lift to his car.

She was a little surprised and asked him why his car was on other side.

He explained that he had seen an old friend in the mall that he hadn't seen for some time and they had a bite to eat and visited for a while; he got turned around in the mall and left through the wrong exit, and now he was running late and his car was clear around on the other side of the mall.

The woman hated to tell him "no" because he had just rescued her from having to change her flat tire all by herself, but she felt uneasy.

Then she remembered seeing the man put his briefcase in her trunk before shutting it and before he asked her for a ride to his car.

She told him that she'd be happy to drive him to his car, but she just remembered one last thing she needed to buy. She said she would only be few minutes; he could sit down in her car and wait for her; she would be as quick as she could be.

She hurried into the mall, and told a security guard what had happened; the guard came out to her car with her, but the man had left.

They opened the trunk, took out his locked briefcase and took it down to the police station. The police opened it (ostensibly to look for ID so they could return it to the man). What they found was rope, duct tape and knives.

When the police checked her "flat" tire, there was nothing wrong with it; the air had simply been let out. It was obvious what the man's motive was, and obvious that he had carefully thought it out in advance.

The woman was blessed to have escaped harm. How much worse it would have been had she waited in the car while the man fixed the tire, or if she had a baby strapped into a car seat.

Or if she'd gone against her judgment and given him a lift.

Baby Give Away....

On a lonely road off of Main Street in my hometown you’ll find a bridge with an unfortunate past. A young family lived near this bridge and the husband was away from his wife and child fighting in the war. A neighbor had always held a candle for the young wife and when he discovered that she had had a child and the husband had gone off to war, he became jealous and determined to have her for his own.

He came to her house one night and forced entry into the home. When she refused him, he savagely attacked her and threatened to kill her child. She escaped and ran from her property with the baby, blindly crashing through the forest and brush seeking a hiding place from her obsessed neighbor. Just as she realized she couldn’t hear the man chasing her anymore, she came to the bridge and took refuge under it with the scared baby in her arms.

The distressed child had been whimpering in fear during her flight from the house, but now that they had stopped the baby began to wail. The child began to cry loudly and ended the hope of the bridge being safe refuge. The neighbor was drawn to the baby’s cries and their position was revealed to the man. He brutally murdered both mother and child right there under the bridge.

Only the woman’s body was ever recovered.

Now, if you drive down this bridge and stop half way across, turn off your car engine and headlights and lights and get out, you can hear the baby’s cries that gave it's mother’s position away years ago. Beware! It’s been said that if you go down underneath the bridge at night, you will never be seen again! The spirit of the young mother is trying to protect her baby even in the afterlife.

The Bunny Man Bridge....

After the civil war Fairfax County, Virginia became more populated and eventually an insane asylum was built there. No one wanted to live near the asylum and because of the public outrage the institution was shut down.

The administration transferred the patients and in 1904 the process was completed. During the transfer, some of the patients escaped and hid in the surrounding woods and forest. These individuals were lost, delusional and dangerous. Most of them were found except Marcus Lawster and Douglas Griffen. The local authorities found a trail they believed belonged to them, littered with half eaten mutilated bunnies.

The trail led deep into the woods to a tunnel bridge crossing a wide creek. There they found Marcus hanging from the tunnel entrance. There was a note attached to his foot that said, "You'll never find me no matter how hard you try! Signed, The Bunny Man." That tunnel has been called Bunny Man Bridge ever since.

The legend says that if you walk all the way down the tunnel at around midnight the Bunny Man will grab you and hang you from the entrance of the bridge.

Strange deaths and phenomena has been connected with the Bunny Man Bridge. There was a young man from Clifton, Virginia who came upon the Bridge while traveling. Later, he killed his parents and dragged their bodies into the woods to hang them from the bridge and then killed himself. In 1943, three teenagers, two men and a young woman, were at the bunny man bridge for Halloween night. The three youths were found dead, hung from the bridge with their bodies slashed open. All with notes attached to their feet saying the same thing," You'll never catch the Bunny Man!"

In 2001, after hearing the tale, six local students and a guide searched the area. They found mutilated bunny parts during their search and left the forest after they heard noises and saw figures moving around in the woods.

the tale of a hookerman....

Long ago, when the trains were still the main commerce transportation in the state, an accident occurred on the tracks of Budd Lake. Now these tracks, which run through Netcong, Flanders, and Budd Lake, were said to carry coal, and other industrial fuel sources.

One night, while repairing a railroad track, one man had the extreme misfortune of getting his arm, shirt, skin and all, stuck on the tracks. In this hand he held the latern that was helping to light his way.

And although the trains were not supposed to be running at this time of night, one did, and the conductor of this very train did not see the trapped man struggling by the side of the tracks, nor did the conductor see the faint glow of his latern. Within a matter of minutes, but what surely seemed like hours for the trapped man, the train had passed and made its way towards the next town. But with this train went the man's hand and latern.

He died that evening from blood loss and shock, his body found later the next day by town locals. But to the dismay of everyone, his hand, and his latern, were missing. Some say that it was swept up with the force of the train, others say an animal took it as dinner.

But if you stand on the tracks in the middle of the night, close to the time when the unfortunate man lost his hand, you will see a green light hanging above the tracks, bobbing up and down the same stretch of land.

And that green light is no other than the man's latern, being held on to fastly by the man's hand, searching and searching in vain for it's body.

Now, for all intents and purposes, there actually is a green light that seems to "hang" over the tracks in this area - but unscarily enough it is supposedly due to chemical deposits in the soil, either due to pollution or natural mines. But still, the sight of the green light on the tracks in the middle of the night will always recall the tragic tale of the Hookerman.

subway stare....

A woman was sitting on the subway late one night and she noticed that the woman sitting across from her was staring intently at her. She pretended not to notice but each time she glanced at the woman the staring continued.

At one of the stops a new passanger got on and sat next to her. After a couple of minutes he quietly told her he thought she should get off at the next stop. Knowing the next stop was a busy one,
she agreed.

When the next stop came up, she left the train with the man. The man said to her, "Thank God, I didn't mean to scare you but I had to get you off that train, the woman sitting opposite you was dead and the two men either side were propping
her up".

School Bus Tracks....

One day, on their regular route home from school, a school bus full of children was crossing over the railroad tracks on their way to the next stop when something went wrong and the bus stalled straddling the tracks. As the driver struggled to restart the bus, the train alarm signal started to sound and the children saw a speeding locomotive coming quickly toward them. By the time the driver opened the doors and evacuate the children, the train had arrived, and the children’s screams were drowned out by the screaming whistle and brakes of the deadly train. None of the children on the schoolbus survived that horrible accident.

A few years later, a man was driving down the same road and stalled on the tracks, in much the same way as the bus full of children. Again, the driver struggled as the alarm started to sound, the lights began to blink and the guard bars lowered in front and behind the man’s passive car. Just before impact, the driver could feel the train bearing down on him. He ceased to struggle and squeezed his eyes shut, anticipating the explosive collision. Suddenly it was as if time stood still and everything became quiet. He felt his car somehow move and it was as if he was being pushed to safety, guided off the tracks by an unknown force. When he and his car were out of danger from the oncoming train, suddenly sound and time came back to life and the locomotive barreled past him, just inches from the bumper of his vehicle.

To this day if you put your car in neutral on those tracks and sprinkle some baby powder on the back bumper of your car the children from the bus accident will push youyou’re your car to safety off of the railroad tracks where they met their untimely fate. You will see small hand prints in the powder of the ghosts of the poor children who died that day.

scary classic stories

Bride and Seek....

During the wedding reception of a young couple, the guests decided to play a drunken game of hide and seek. It was decided that the groom was "it" and he eventually found everyone except his new bride.

The longer he searched the more frusturated he became and he was soon furious thinking she had left. He decided the game wasn't funny anymore and went home without his bride. As weeks went by, he accepted that she'd had second thoughts and went on with her life so he did the same.

A few years later a cleaning lady dusted off an old trunk in the attic of the building where the reception had taken place, out of curiosity she opened it.

Inside the trunk was the rotted body of the missing bride who'd apparently became locked in the trunk she'd chosen to hide in. Whether she'd suffocated or starved was unknown, but her face was frozen in a scream.

The Graveyard Wager....

A group of young girls were having a slumber party one night and began to exchange ghost stories. One girl claimed that the old man who had been buried earlier that week in the graveyard down the street had been buried alive. She claimed that if you tried, you could hear him still scratching at the lid of his coffin. The other girls called her bluff and told her that she wouldn’t do it. They said she was too afraid to go down there to the grave that very night. They continued to challenge her and eventually she gave into the peer pressure and accepted their challenge. Since she was going to go alone, she needed to prove to the others that she actually followed through with the task. She was supposed to take a stake with her and drive it into the ground so the next day the girls would know that she had been to the grave.

She headed off to the gravesite, stake in hand, and never returned. The other girls assumed she had "chickened out" and had just gone home ashamed.

The next morning as they passed the graveyard they saw her there at the old man's grave. She had accidentally staked her nightshirt to the ground and when she tried to run from the grave and couldn’t, she died of fright.

Hey…Where'd She Go?....

A man was driving home from a country-club dance late one Saturday night. Out of the corner of his eye appeared a lovely young girl, dressed in the sheerest of evening gowns, beckoning him for a lift. He jammed on his brakes, and motioned her to climb into the back seat of his sedan. "All cluttered up with golf clubs and bags up here in front," he explained. "But what on earth is a youngster like you doing out here all alone at this time of night?"

"It's too long a story to tell you now," said the girl. Her voice was sweet and somewhat shrill -- like the tinkling of sleigh bells. "Please, please take me home. My car broke down a few miles back and I have been trying to get help for the longest time. I live up the road about 5 miles. I do hope it's not too far out of your way."

He drove rapidly to her destination, and as he pulled up before the house, he said, "Here we are," and turned around. The back seat was empty.

"What the devil?" he muttered to himself. The girl couldn't possibly have fallen from the car. Nor could she simply have vanished. He rang insistently on the house bell, confused as he had never been before. At long last the door opened. A gray-haired, very tired-looking man peered out at him. "I can't tell you what an amazing thing has happened," began the doctor. "A young girl gave me this address a while back. I drove her here and . . ."

"Yes, yes, I know," said the man wearily. "This has happened several other Saturday evenings in the past month. That young girl, sir, was my daughter. She was killed in a car accident in the spot where you picked her up two years ago.

Neck Scarf....

There once was a girl who always wore a scarf around here neck no matter what time of year it was. One day while out on a date with her boyfriend, he said to her "Take off your scarf." She replied, "No, I will take it off when the time is right."

Years went by and the couple became engaged to be married. On their wedding night, her new husband again said to her, "We are married now so you can take off your scarf." Again she said, "No, I will take it off when the time is right."

More time passed and the young couple grew old together. The old woman lay on her death bed and addressed her weeping husband kneeling by her side. "I'm so sorry to keep this secret from you for so long. Take off my scarf and you'll see why I've always had it on."

Her husband took the end of the scarf in his hand and slowly removed it from her neck. Horrified, he watched his wife's head roll off the bed and across the floor. She'd been wearing the scarf to keep her head on!
